Security and Access - Users and Groups
FacilitatePro employs user groups to manage the numerous conferences and topics running simultaneously. User groups are the equivalent of floors in the virtual building that is our electronic conference center. User groups provide secure partitions that prohibit unauthorized access to conferences and topics. Conferences and topics are assigned to one or more user groups; participants must also have permission to access that user group in order to see and participate in those conferences and topics. (See User Profiles Section 26.)Conferences, topics and subtopics are open to the groups specified by the facilitator. Facilitators may use user groups to create agendas with topics that are open to some participants and not others. A user must have access to a conference to participate in an enclosed topic, and similarly must have access to a topic to participate in an enclosed subtopic. Each user is assigned a single primary group number and may be assigned multiple secondary group numbers. Primary group designations allow users to enter the current topic defined for their primary group. Secondary group designations allow users to attend several meetings with different sets of participants.User profiles identify individual users and define the user's group access. A user is identified on FacilitatePro by a user ID which has an associated password for security purposes. Shared IDs allow several people to logon using a single user ID and password, avoiding the need to create and manage numerous identical individual user profiles. Group IDs are used to name the group and may also be used to control access/settings for all user IDs with that primary group number.User profiles are also used to define user roles and privileges. The three primary roles within FacilitatePro are: User (participant), Facilitator and Administrator
