Section 31. Other Web Functions
Administrator Who Is On Function
The Who Is On Status Screen provides administrators with a detailed view of system usage, level of activity, errors and failed logon attempts. These extensive tracking tools are designed to help administrators run security checks and answer questions when unexpected events occur that are almost always a result of user actions, intentional or unintentional.Tracking does not affect the integrity of the system when it comes to preserving participant anonymity; administrators cannot use these tools to determine who typed a comment or how someone voted.
Administrator Who is On LogLinks in the Who is On log provide quick jumps to the Conference Editor screen and into individual topic activities as well as to the User Profile Editor screen for individual users and shared user IDs.Pull-down menu options allow an administrator to search for subsets of the data based on the type of access or event including logon failures and facilitator activity such as renaming topics, editing voting and language profiles, and deleting items and voting ballots. Data may be searched for a certain time frame and defaults to the last day of activity. Administrators may also search for a specified user ID, conference or topic ID number or an event type.NOTE: The data table may take several seconds to load. You will immediately see the number of search items returned (e.g., 9 of 3,168 in the screenshot above) but the table itself will not load until all data has been downloaded from to the browser. Special event names allow an administrator to delete log records if necessary. The high and average response time is recorded in Web Stats and should not impact the responsiveness of the server.
