Section 28. Managing User Access with Logon Screens and URLs

This section describes various ways enable access to the electronic conference center using logon screens and hypertext links (URLs) from an email message or web page.
Logon screens offer a security gate or reception area for the FacilitatePro conference center. User IDs and passwords provide permission to enter the center and direct participants to the correct meeting, survey, or other activity. Logon screens may be used to collect information from participants as they enter the conference center, such as their name or organization. Organization or demographic data is often collected when conducting surveys to take advantage of the FacilitatePro reporting features to summarize survey results.
Hypertext links or URLs bring users from a Web page or an email directly to a discussion topic or survey. A User ID and password as well as conference and topic numbers are embedded in the URL and an associated user profile with access to the conference and topic must be established for the link to operate. The URL may also include a return to page, directing participants back to a certain Web page when they have finished working in the topic.
The installation disk contains the HTML code for the logon screens discussed in this section. The HTML code can be customized to include new logos, headers, and instructions.
